The Tampa Bay Rebels relationships with international basketball clubs dates back to 2007, when the team played against professional clubs in Argentina and Mexico. Since then, the team has had the opportunity to return to Mexico and compete against top teams in various pre-season contests. Because of their performances against these clubs in prior years, the Rebels were invited to face the eventual 2012 FIBA Americas Liga de las Americas champions, Pioneros de Quintana Roo, as they prepared for the Final Four of the FIBA Americas league. After having the opportunity to play against these top international teams on the international stage, several of our players have been signed by international clubs. Our program is the ideal starting point for undrafted or unsigned players who are looking for international jobs as they have the opportunity to work with our Head Coach / GM, Fernando Rojas, who has played and coached internationally. The Rebels have also established their own scouting department, which has expanded the reach of their international network. We have had players from NCAA Division I and II schools as well as JUCO programs start their career by joining the Rebels, and we have also worked with players who are veterans of the D-League, international leagues and other minor leagues in the U.S. Because our season runs from April through July, we are able to work with players who have finished their seasons within the U.S. or abroad and want a place to train and compete within a structured environment in preparation for the beginning of training camp for clubs around the world.
